Where can I search newspaper archives?
Newspaper archives are a valuable resource for genealogists, but unfortunately many newspapers only have online archives
for recent years. Newspaper Abstracts and The Olden Times are trying to solve that problem.
The sites post abstracts from American newspapers in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The projects are growing,
but you aren't guaranteed to find the the newspaper you are looking for. The sites rely on volunteers to send in abstracts.
More recent articles might be online.
HeadlineSpot.com links to thousands of newspapers worldwide.
If you can't find any information online, a trip to the local library is in order. Public libraries
usually keep many years' worth of archives of local newspapers.
